Ending the old year with a new blog...

Already got the intro post down...but yeah here it is. Just a sort of first "real" blog post for my 0 followers. To end this year 2011, I'm going to be doing a super segment called "Projects You Might've Missed 2011", featuring the better mixtapes and FreEp's that have come out this year and that I've enjoyed. Also, going to be talking about 5 artists that I'm thankful to have come across this year (I'll admit that I'm late to some punches) and 5 that I didn't embrace until now. Look for all those to start on the 26th and to end on the 31st, right in time for the new year's champagne.

Today, simply 5 songs any hip hop fan should enjoy...they may or may not be represented on the lists to come:

Actual Proof ft. GQ - Light of Day

What can I say? I love JAMLA. Shit, there aren't many NC rappers I don't like. This song is just an IN for me. GQ goes in with the punches to round out a solid song. If you haven't heard it...take a listen.

Grynch - My Volvo

This one's actually a bit old from Grynch's Chemistry EP, but I really ride with it. Seattle representing on this one, check the weather in the vid. As a driver of a '07 RAV4 I relate to this and RapSody's Honda Accord music.

Pharoahe Monch ft. Jean Grae & Royce the 5'9 - Assassins

This song is such a jam. Three monsters ripping the track. The concept is nice and overall well executed. You get some ridiculous Monchian flow...I don't even know what else to say. Just check it out...NY and Detroit together on this one. If you haven't at least listened to W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) you definitely should, it has a little bit for everyone (except a club banger...but I doubt anyone was expecting that)

Laws ft. Emilio Rojas & Big K.R.I.T. - Hold You Down (Remix)

This also didn't come out this year, but I love this song. Take a quick listen and come back for more a bit later, all three of these guys have projects worth listening to, so check them out!

Co$$ ft. J. Nolan & Thurz - Angels Sing

Three of my favorite emcees (as of this year, great first impressions) on the same track (Co$$'s newest project includes it. It's also why he's also one of my favorites. Check it out) I never expect to see a J. Nolan feature, add Thurzday and life just gets good. Soft production, three solid verses. Enjoy!

That's about it for tonight. Check back over the next few days for some more Pre-New Year Hip Hop. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. C tha G...out.
